The Newborn Photos I’ll Never Take (And Why)

There are newborn photos that have been trending for years.
Babies inside buckets. Impossible poses. Completely airbrushed skin. Artificial setups. Positions that seem more designed for Pinterest than for remembering a real baby.
And although I respect other photographers’ work, there’s a type of newborn photography I’ve decided not to do.
Because it doesn’t connect with how I want to remember a baby.
I Don’t Want Your Baby to Look Like a Doll
A newborn has folds.
Changing skin.
Tiny closed hands.
Imperfect movements.
A need for contact.
And that’s exactly where the beauty is.
I will never turn a baby into something stiff, artificial or unrecognizable just because it “looks pretty.”
Because years from now, the pose won’t matter most.
What will matter is remembering what your baby was really like.
I Will Never Do Forced or Uncomfortable Poses
There are famous newborn photos that require complex compositions, advanced retouching or extremely staged positions.
Personally, it’s not the kind of photography I connect with.
My priority will always be:
- Safety
- Comfort
- The baby’s natural rhythm
- And creating images that will still feel emotional 20 years from now
That’s why my newborn sessions are calm, slow and natural.
No rushing.
No artificial setups.
No trying to turn a newborn into something they are not.
I Don’t Create Porcelain Skin Either
A newborn’s real skin changes constantly.
There can be redness.
Peeling.
Little baby acne spots.
Tiny marks.
And honestly, removing absolutely everything makes many photos lose their truth.
Yes, I edit.
Of course I do.
But in a soft and natural way, keeping the baby’s essence completely intact.
I want you to look back at these photos years later and feel that this baby was truly yours. Not an artificial version created on a computer.
I Prefer Emotion Over Props
Most of the time, the most emotional image isn’t the most prepared one.
It’s:
- the way your baby looks at you,
- the way they fall asleep on your chest,
- the way you hold their hand,
- or the way an older sibling slowly approaches to meet them.
That never goes out of style.
That’s why my newborn sessions focus on connection, calmness and real memories.
Newborn Photography Shouldn’t Take Attention Away From the Baby
Sometimes the setups are so exaggerated that the baby almost disappears inside the scene.
I prefer cleaner, elegant and timeless photography.
Because the most important thing is not the props.
It’s your baby.
And the more natural a photograph is, the more valuable it usually becomes over time.
What My Newborn Sessions Are Like
My sessions are designed so you can live a calm and natural experience.
No pressure.
No need for the baby to “cooperate.”
No impossible poses.
I work with soft light, neutral tones and natural editing to create elegant, emotional and real images.

Maybe 20 Years From Now, This Will Be All That Remains
Those first days go by fast.
Much faster than it feels when you are living through the exhaustion, doubts and chaos of having a newborn.
And that’s exactly why I believe photos shouldn’t focus on trends.
They should focus on remembering how everything truly began.
