How to prepare for a newborn photoshoot: everything you need to know
It’s completely normal to have questions before a newborn session.
How should I prepare my baby?
What should we wear?
What if the baby doesn’t sleep?
If you’re here, take a breath: nothing needs to be perfect.
Just understand how it works… and allow yourself to be guided.
The most important thing: don’t worry
The session is designed to adapt to your baby, not the other way around.
Every baby is different.
Everything is done following their rhythm.
There will be pauses.
Time for feeding.
Moments to soothe.
No rush.
Before the session
A few small things can help:
Try to keep your baby awake for a little while beforehand (if possible)
Feed your baby just before the session
Bring everything you need for feeding
This helps them stay more relaxed and sleepy.
But if it doesn’t happen, that’s okay.
What should we wear?
Less is more.
Recommendations:
Neutral tones (white, beige, earthy colours)
Avoid logos or patterns
Simple, comfortable clothing
For your baby, you usually don’t need to bring anything special.
Parents and family
This is not just about your baby.
It’s about you too.
That’s why I recommend:
Coordinated outfits (not identical)
Soft colours
A natural style
No need to pose.
Just be present.
What if my baby doesn’t sleep?
This is one of the most common concerns.
And it’s completely fine.
The session will adapt:
more connection
more holding
more real moments
Sometimes, these images are even more meaningful.
Trust the process
This is not about controlling everything.
It’s about experiencing the moment.
Trusting.
Slowing down.
Feeling.
